My Experience

I started my career in audit in London covering a wide range of businesses before moving to audit in the financial services sector with KPMG in the Cayman Islands. After around 10 years of audit work I took up the role of CFO in a rapidly growing and broad-based security business in Cayman before returning to the UK in 2017 to work as CFO for one of the Sainsbury’s group companies. After helping to complete successful purchase of the Nectar card in the UK by the Sainsbury’s group, I undertook another CFO role in London before starting my own business providing CFO and senior level finance support to SMEs, helping to bring my experiences to companies that were not large enough to warrant a 5-day-a-week, 6-figure salary CFO but who could greatly benefit from access to the knowledge and experience that such an individual could bring to the business.

Services I Provide

Part-time CFO services, Directorship services, senior level project support, M&A support, strategic financial advice, finance function reviews and support, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and similar services.

Why am I a Khensu Advisor?

I am part of Khensu because of the fantastic range of skills and experiences that are held by the Khensu members. This allows me to provide a broad range of support to businesses with which I work. Finance touches all parts of a business and, as a result, many different issues within the business come to light. Being a member of Khensu provides me access to trusted and experienced experts in their fields who can support with whatever issue I have identified in my work.

Key Skills & Services

My key skills are my ability to firstly verify that financial information is accurate and reliable and then to translate this information into usable management information allowing the senior team in the business to make informed operational and/or strategic decisions about the way ahead. I am also skilled in developing the appropriate policies, procedures and controls that suit the size and stage of development of the business allowing it to function effectively both at its current size and as it grows and develops.

What Problems Do I Solve?

Ensuring your financial information is of a high quality. Interpreting that financial information in the context of the wider business to ensure those who require it have the information that they need in order to make reliable decisions about the business, either for day-to-day matters or major inflection points such as the sale or purchase of a company.

My Advice to Businesses

Cash in King! You must know your cash position, now and looking forward, and manage the cash closely across the business. Also it is important, particularly for senior people in the business to determine what is the best use of their time. Are they doing things that could/should be delegated to allow them to focus on growing and developing the business?
